The party never ends at Space Ibiza

It's a recent cold night in Hell's Kitchen, with winds rolling off the Hudson River. But on the dance floor of Space Ibiza New York, on West 50th Street, things are getting sweaty. House music blasts through speakers, and undulating bodies push toward the elevated DJ booth where tattooed DJ Victor Calderone holds court. Aerialists hang from hoops overhead, little people scoot around on tricycles, and, oh yeah, you can't miss the puffy-haired guy prancing in his glow-in-the-dark suit.

When 4 a.m. strikes, and most clubs close, staffers at Space have been known to sweep bottles from the tables, shut down the bar service — and then keep the party going. Four hours later, at 8 a.m., the booze returns and things kick up to a whole new level.

Midtown's newest hot spot is the first North American spinoff of the hugely popular Spanish club, which has been around since 1989 and has been named best global club at the International Dance Music Awards four times — most recently in 2013. The New York version, which opened last fall, was previewed with a Fashion Week party by designer Jeremy Scott. It was such a hit, he'll return Wednesday — hosting his second bash there.

"You can't have too much of a good thing," Scott tells The Post. "I was in the DJ booth last time and someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around, and it was Madonna!"

Last Wednesday, the eve of Fashion Week, stars like Cuba Gooding Jr. and rapper Machine Gun Kelly flocked to the club to celebrate.

On a good night, Space Ibiza New York comes pretty close to replicating a dance spot on its eponymous Balearic Island. It's no wonder, then, that Madonna joined Diplo in the DJ booth for Scott's party last September — that same month, Leonardo DiCaprio swung by to check out DJ Luciano, while one week later spinner Tiësto flew in from Vegas to do an extended set for a charity function. On Halloween some big spender ran up a $30,000 bar tab with magnums of Dom Perignon and Grey Goose.

The folks behind the club work hard to create a loose atmosphere that leads to unbridled partying. "It's not just about a DJ pumping his fist," says co-owner Antonio Piacquadio, who cut his teeth running Sankeys, a legendary dance club in Ibiza. "It's about creating the Ibiza experience: beautiful people, a party atmosphere, lots of fun. "

Calderone, a regular DJ at the club who travels the circuit from Ibiza to Montreal to Miami, digs the Euro vibe at Space.

"It has a similar feeling to Ibiza; for DJs, the energy is very similar," he says. "You build your set over a period of time, and the people are there to be taken on a journey. Then the real music-heads show up at 6 a.m., and a transfer of energy takes place. I enjoy playing marathon sets. Late last year, I went for 11 hours and felt great at the end!"

In some ways, with its large dance floor, no-nonsense décor and sporadic blasts of underground-techno house music, the club feels like a bit of a throwback to the glory days of 1980s and '90s New York, when clubs like Sound Factory and Twilo ruled.

For Shawn Sadri, a 33-year-old dentist based in Manhattan, that's part of the appeal. "It's old-school," says Sadri. "I find it to be a nice change from all the lounge-y places. Plus, it's so big that they need to be democratic with who they let in and you get a real mix: socialites, bridge-and-tunnel and serious dance-club people. The nice thing is that everyone mostly looks good and dresses the part."

So does the club itself: The speaker system is part of a $300,000 acoustic setup. Lights spin on the ceiling at 5 to 25 miles per hour, spitting illumination across the dance floor. Plus, a roof deck will open in the spring.

Despite all of the tricked-out technology, for some patrons, it's the simple things that make the club fun and different from the New York norm.

"Every time I'm home in New York I go to Space," says Theresa D'lor, 35, a globe-trotting fashion model who's based in Manhattan. "It's welcoming, it's warm, and I always see people I know."
