Brooklyn Tech administrators turned a blind eye to the sleazy behavior of accused perv teacher Sean Shaynak because the popular educator was a big rainmaker for the school, too, a lawyer for one of his alleged victims claims.
Attorney Jeff Herman claims that Shaynak, who has been charged with abuse, rape and kidnapping students, ran an aerospace club that brought in lots of fund-raising money.
"He was not only a popular teacher," but his aeronautics program "was really helpful to the school raising money," Herman said, adding: "Unfortunately we think that's one of the reasons they kept Shaynak around, was putting money over the safety of students."
Herman claims his client — identified only as V.V. — had sex with Shaynak, 44. They even met up in the after-school aerospace club when she was 18, the suit states.
"Why they protected him, [that's] something we're certainly going to be asking hard questions [about]."
V.V. was groomed by Shaynak and had sex with him in his apartment and watched him hook up with other men in sex clubs, the lawsuit states.
The Department of Education referred comment to the city Law Department, whose spokesman said: "We will review the lawsuit."
