Continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding golfer Robert Allenby's alleged abduction, Honolulu police released a statement on Thursday that said there is "no indication" Allenby was kidnapped in the early morning of Jan. 17.
Police also said they "have found no credible evidence or witnesses to indicate Allenby — who said he was beaten, robbed and abducted in Waikiki, Hawaii last month — patronized an adult entertainment establishment" that night.
"There is no evidence he was ever in that strip club," Det. John McCarthy told EPN.com. "Our investigation shows he was not at Club Femme Nu."
McCarthy said several Australians were in the strip club, but not Allenby.
"It was a case of mistaken identity," he said of reports indicating Allenby was there.
Police did make an arrest Wednesday in connection with the credit cards stolen from Allenby.

Patrick Owen Harbison, 32, was arrested on second-degree identity theft, second-degree attempted theft and unauthorized possession of confidential information, police said. That part of the case has been turned over to prosecutors.
Harbison, who police said has five previous convictions, including a felony drug conviction, was arrested at the Oahu Community Correctional Center in Honolulu.
It is still unknown what happened to Allenby after he left Amuse Wine Bar on the night after he missed the cut in the Sony Open.
"I want to thank the Honolulu Police Department for their ongoing work in this investigation," Allenby said in a statement. "As I have continually said, these detectives are the best at what they do, and I was always confident they would discover what happened. I continue to fully cooperate with the HPD and I look forward to this matter being fully resolved."
