Nets’ Hollins not expecting roster shakeup at trade deadine

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Lionel Hollins isn't expecting anything to change over the All-Star break.

"Yes, I do," Hollins said when asked if he thought he would have the same roster after next Thursday's trade deadline. The Nets, who lost 95-86 to the Grizzlies Tuesday night to head into the break with a 21-31 record, are one game behind the Hornets for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Does Hollins think that the Nets keeping the same roster will get them into the playoffs?

"I don't know," he said with a smile. "We're going to find out."

The Nets have endured plenty of trade rumors over the past couple of months, with all three of their high-priced stars — Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez — being linked to potential new destinations.

But with the Nets having no incentive to give any of them away in salary dumps — they have to swap draft picks with the league-leading Hawks — it makes moving any of them for talent to help the team now difficult.

"Well, we've got 30 games left, and we're still in the playoff hunt," Hollins said. "We need everybody to get rested, we need everybody to get healthy, and see if we can come back and put together a run and make the playoffs."

Williams finally ended his consecutive missed field goals streak at 22 — a streak that stretched over four games — with a turnaround jumper in the post in the second quarter. Williams would go on to make his next two shots in the quarter, and finished with 10 points on 4-for-9 shooting to go along with four assists in 28 minutes.

After the game, Williams left without speaking to reporters.

Over his past four games, Williams has shot 6-for-31 from the field, including going 0-for-8 in Saturday's loss in Washington and going 0-for-5 with four assists and four turnovers in Monday's loss in Milwaukee.

Jarrett Jack left the game late in the third quarter after getting kicked in the back of the left leg. Jack walked off visibly limping and grabbing at his hamstring, and didn't return.

He finished the game with 12 points and four assists in 30 minutes.

"I tried to play a couple more possessions, and then it just kind of got worse and started grabbing at me. Hopefully over these 10 days I can bounce back and be all right."
