Cabbie: I never saw killer BMW coming

Written By Unknown on Selasa, 10 Februari 2015 | 17.08

The driver of a livery cab that was carrying a husband and his pregnant wife when it was struck by a speeding BMW operated by an ex-con testified Monday that he never saw the car hurtling toward him.

He also said outside of Brooklyn Supreme Court that the accident — which killed the couple and their unborn baby — left him so traumatized, he had to stop driving his cab.

"I was looking for another job because it was a very terrible situation," Pedro Nuñez Delacruz said. "It's not easy when you think of those three people passing away. I'll never forget it. Never."

Delacruz took the stand in the manslaughter trial of Julio Acevedo, 46, who is accused of killing Nachman and Raizi Glauber and their unborn son in the 2013 Williamsburg crash and then speeding away.

Delacruz now drives a tractor-trailer — because he has no passengers, he said.

Delacruz also said on the stand that he had no warning before the crash.

"Did you see any headlights?" prosecutor Gayle Dampf asked him.

"No," replied Delacruz.

Delacruz also testified that he didn't drink or take any drugs the night of the crash, and that he drove through the crash intersection, Wilson Street and Kent Avenue, four or five times each day, and was very familiar with it.
