The woman axed by City College for allegedly stealing cash from a student may not be out of the money for long — she's poised to collect on a lawsuit filed by her son against the city after an assault on Rikers Island, The Post has learned.
Shalanda Tolbert, a 40-year-old worker at the registrar's office, was arrested in late November on charges she pocketed $1,400 from the wallet of a student about to pay tuition, authorities said.
The Post has learned that Tolbert has power-of-attorney privileges for son Chad Seegars, who sued the city in March 2013 after he says he was slashed and needed 90 stitches after visiting a locked-up pal at Rikers.
Tolbert, listed in the court papers for her power-of-attorney privileges, could cash in on any Seegars payday in Manhattan Supreme Court. A spokesman for the city's Law Department said the case is in its early stages and no depositions have been taken.
