A Parks Department supervisor was "nervous and stressed" before she intervened in a fatal fight between two agency workers, she told jurors Monday.
As Angelina Zirkiyeva tried to defuse the Sept. 4, 2012, brawl between Robert Swann and Ezra Black at the Al Oerter Recreation Center in Queens — shortly before then-Mayor Mike Bloomberg was to speak there — Black already had been mortally wounded.
"I didn't know Ezra was hurt until he was on his back. I saw a little blood on his chest," Zirkiyeva said. "I didn't think who would attack first, I just wanted to move Robert away."
The petite woman had pulled Swann by his shirt to get him away from Black's face. She still had hopes of ending the fight, unaware of Black's wound, she said.
Swann, 53, is facing 25 to life for allegedly stabbing Black, 31, during the scuffle over a plastic garbage bag.
Swann told detectives that he had reported to supervisors that he was the victim of Black's bullying and death threats but that nothing was done about it.
Black was working for the Queens recreation center for two weeks before he was knifed to death.
Swann allegedly took off his work clothes and dumped the murder weapon before attempting to flee the park, when he was spotted by another supervisor.
