Tragic elderly man killed crossing street

An elderly man died after he was struck by two cars in Harlem Friday evening, authorities said.

Antonio Escanio, 76, was crossing the street at Amsterdam Avenue and West 155th Street just before 6:00 p.m when he was hit by a Toyota SUV, and then hit again by a Chevy Malibu authorities said.

He was taken to Bronx Presbyterian Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation is ongoing, but police say both drivers remained on scene, and no criminality is suspected at this time.
