Scheduled performers include Common, Madonna, Ed Sheeran (above), Sam Smith and Pharrell Williams. 3. The Slap
Thursday, 8 p.m., NBC
New York City public servant Hector (Peter Sarsgaard) is not looking forward to his 40th birthday. Passed over for a promotion at work, he has been having a stupid affair with an underage girl who works at the same clinic as physician wife Aisha (Thandie Newton).
But there's a party at Hector's house and his mom (Maria Tucci, with Greek washerwoman accent) has brought enough food to feed the participants of the Trojan War. The adults at the party include Hector's cousin Harry (Zachary Quinto), a right-wing hothead, and his friend, Gary (Thomas Sadoski), a painter whose wife (Melissa George) is still breast-feeding their son Hugo (Dylan Schombing), who is 5 years old.
While the guests' children are playing Wiffle ball, Hugo strikes out three times but won't give up the bat, swinging it at Harry's son, Rocco (Owen Tanzer). Harry takes the bat out of Hugo's hands and shakes him. When the boy kicks him, Harry slaps his face.
Hello, criminal charges.
A different-looking Uma Thurman has a cameo as a cougar actress.
