Yankees’ CC Sabathia has just one wish for the 2015 season

CC Sabathia's offseason activity has pretty much been limited to playing catch at his New Jersey home.

So far, so good — but the real test will be when he begins throwing bullpen sessions later in the month.

After that, even Sabathia doesn't want to make any predictions.

When asked what his expectations were for the 2015 season, the big lefty with the bad right knee kept it simple.

"Just to be healthy," Sabathia said while at the Theater at Madison Square Garden for Roc Nation's throne boxing event on Friday.

He declined to put any numbers, like 200 innings, on those expectations.

"No, just health," a bearded Sabathia said. "If I'm healthy, I'm sure all that other stuff will take care of itself."

That didn't happen a year ago, when he was limited to eight starts and a degenerative right knee condition was discovered.

Any chance the Yankees have of contending likely depends on Sabathia at least approaching his old self.

When Sabathia reports to spring training in February, he also will see plenty of new faces, as well as the return of Chase Headley and Stephen Drew.

"I'm excited about Chase and I like the Stephen Drew and Andrew Miller signings," Sabathia said of the lefty reliever the Yankees signed in December.

As for new shortstop Didi Gregorius, Sabathia said he hasn't seen him much since the former Diamondback only has faced the Yankees once.

"I know he can pick it," Sabathia said of Gregorius' defense. "That's all I'm worried about."

Miller and Gregorius hardly will be the only new Yankees and Sabathia insisted that while outside expectations may be lower than in the past, his haven't changed.

"I think we'll be fine," Sabathia said.

Just fine?

"Hopefully we'll be better than fine," Sabathia said. "Hopefully we'll be World Series fine."
