Passengers from Ebola-plagued countries better cooperate with enhanced screenings beginning Saturday at Kennedy Airport — or else.
Travelers who don't play ball could be quarantined for up to three weeks, feds warned.
New security measures designed to stop the deadly disease's spread will include temperature screenings and a questionnaire on travel history and possible exposure.
But critics say the new screenings don't go far enough. Passengers, they argue, could simply lie in their questionnaire responses. And those who know they have been exposed could just take an aspirin or other fever reducers before landing, making temperature screenings less effective.
And, since symptoms do not appear for up to 21 days, people could be exposed and show no signs of the virus until weeks after arrival — and would later become contagious only once the symptoms appeared.
The upgraded measures will also be implemented at Newark, Hartsfield–Jackson in Atlanta, Washington Dulles and Chicago's O'Hare airports.
