A candidate running to head the nation's largest Teamsters union — representing thousands of city law-enforcement and security officers — lost his driver's licenses after being charged with driving under the influence, The Post has learned.
The Department of Motor Vehicles yanked both Jakwan Rivers' regular and commercial driver's licenses in July after he refused to take a drug test following his 2012 DUI arrest, state records show.
Rivers also landed in hot water for operating an auto without a license, which resulted in a separate DMV conviction in 2012.
Additionally, he has one outstanding suspension for failing to pay a "driver responsibility fee.''
That's not the only trouble the candidate has gotten into: In 2011, the state took legal action against Rivers for failing to make child-support payments. Rivers later satisfied the delinquency, records show.
Rivers is seeking to oust Gregory Floyd, the president of the 20,000-member Teamsters Local 237, whose membership includes over 6,000 NYPD school-safety officers and hospital security guards.
Ballots go out to members Thursday.
