Unfortunately for fans of his acting, the late Michael Jeter (left) did not make a stunning appearance at the MLB All Star Game, but rather the Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter did. Photo: Getty Images, AP
Swing and a miss!
CBS News mistakenly identified Derek Jeter as the late actor Michael Jeter when tweeting an article about him being given a standing ovation Tuesday night, saying, "Michael Jeter takes bow at his final All-Star Game."
Michael Jeter, who died in 2003 at the age of 50, is best known for his role as Eduard "Del" Delacroix in "The Green Mile," and also appeared in "Waterworld," "Jurassic Park III," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and the 1990-94 television series "Evening Shade."
CBS News realized the error, deleted the erroneous tweet then tweeted, "Whoops, we meant to say DEREK Jeter takes bow at his final All-Star game."
