The co-founder of a Staten Island commune won $1.3 million Monday from an ex-follower who publicly smeared him and then allegedly shot him.

Jeffrey Gross, 59 — who helped create the free-loving Ganas commune in Tompkinsville in 1979 — won the civil judgment against former follower Rebekah Johnson, 51.

"She tried to assassinate my career and reputation before trying to take my life,'' Gross told The Post.

"I don't expect to see the money — this is about justice," he said.

Johnson had distributed pamphlets calling Gross a "rapist'' and "cult" leader.

She then was accused of being the shooter who ambushed Gross in May 2006 in a dark commune stairwell, firing six shots.

Johnson, who said it wasn't her, was cleared at a criminal trial, but found liable by the Civil Court jury.

Johnson's lawyer, Edwin Lambert, vowed to appeal.
