Here's the good news: An administrative judge in New Jersey has held that Woodbridge Township was right to sack a middle-school teacher accused of referring to female students as whores.
The bad news is that it took a judge and 20 months to get to this point.
In any world ruled by common sense, James Lang, an English teacher at Ford MS, would have been out long ago — or at least punched in the nose by an outraged dad — given that at least some of the accusations date back 10 years.
Accusations against him included telling a female student who bent over to pick up a paper he would "tap that," calling another "Jo-Jo the Ho-Ho" and informing one female teacher he wished she were Lady Gaga so he could watch her "hook up" with another woman.
Though Lang denies the charges, the judge found the complaints credible. The process took so long because Lang has tenure.
And it's not just the teachers in the classroom whose judgment we have to worry about. Here in New York, one of the candidates Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio is said to be considering for schools chancellor has sex troubles of his own. His name is Joshua Starr, now superintendent of schools for Montgomery County in Maryland.
As The Post reported this week, Starr has been getting flak from Maryland parents about his handling of a music teacher who was charged with abusing 14 students over an eight-year period in a kindergarten-to-second-grade school.
If our school systems have such a hard time drawing the line with pervs, is it really any wonder we find it next to impossible to get rid of those who are just bad at teaching?
