Rutgers lands standout wide receiver

Rutgers kept up its recruiting momentum with another significant verbal, prying four-star wide receiver Saeed Blacknall of Manalapan (N.J.) away from powerhouses Ohio State, LSU and defending national champion Alabama.

The 6-foot-33, 205-pound Blacknall is rated as the third-best overall prospect in New Jersey at any position by both ESPN and rivals.com. He was ranked the 14th-best receiver in the country by the former and 15th by the latter, who also tabbed the Scarlet Knights' 21-player recruiting class No. 16 nationally so far.

Blacknall had long been considered leaning toward LSU, but after recently visiting both Baton Rouge and Tuscaloosa, he attended a Rutgers practice last Saturday and committed to the Scarlet Knights Saturday afternoon while on an official visit.

Rutgers hired Blacknall's former high school assistant coach Cody High as an assistant/player development coach, while former Scarlet Knight quarterback Tom Tarver is the former coach at Manalapan. Blacknall, who has over two dozen offers, joins fellow four-star Adonis Jennings as standout receivers in this recruiting class.

Blacknall tweeted "I AM BLESSED TO SAY I WILL BE PLAYING BALL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RUTGERS #JERSEYSTANDUP #732 #SHOCKTHEWORLD #CHOPBOY!" Then he followed that up with "RRRRRRR UUUUUU !!!!!!!!!! Ready? #732 im coming home"
