"Glee" star Cory Monteith, who had a history of battling substance abuse, was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room, police said late last night.
The 31-year-old Monteith, best known as singing quarterback Finn Hudson on the beloved Fox show, was discovered shortly after noon in his 21st-floor room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, officials said.
Authorities didn't immediately reveal a cause of death, but said that there does not appear to be any foul play. He checked in on July 6 and had been due to check out yesterday, officials said.
Doug LePard, deputy chief of the Vancouver police, counted himself as a "Glee" fan.

"As was the case in countless homes, I watched 'Glee' regularly with my daughters, and I know there will be shock and sadness in many households with the news of his tragic death," he said.
A native of Victoria, BC, Monteith had checked into rehab back in April. In a 2011 interview, Monteith said his first stint in rehab was when he was only 19.
