One small-town New Jersey mayor decided that saving his personal stash of ice cream was more important than providing power to local residents.
North Haledon Mayor Randy George confessed he used a Department of Public Works superintendent's offer to use a spare generator to keep the fridge running at his ice-cream parlor after Hurricane Sandy — while thousands of residents were without electricity.
"I shouldn't have said 'yes.' The next morning when I woke up, I realized I should have said 'no' and I brought the generator back," the mayor told 1010 WINS Radio.
